GHOST VARIATIONS FOR ACTOR, SINGER AND MUSICBANDA
IN MEMORIAM OF THE ARTIST AND VISIONARY THIERRY KAZAZIAN
A “beguiling blend of painfully beautiful melancholy and rousing folkloric music-making” is the verdict of the Swiss newspaper Neue Züricher Zeitung when writing about the instrumental virtuosos of the group “Franui”. The group has become well-known throughout Europe through their interpretation of the Romantic song which is unorthodox not merely with its fine humour but also in its instrumentation: Franui is a traditional Alpine “banda” performing on wind instruments, dulcimer and zither.
Aided by the director Corinna von Rad, Franui’s latest project focuses on Robert Schumann. Out of the concert situation of a lied recital, scenic elements are developed: situations of existential comedy, the art of small gestures and also great sorrow.
This is a grotesque evening devoted to unfulfilled wishes and undiminished
