SAMPLED IDENTITY
MUSIKTHEATER
Ensemble Resonanz, HipHop Academy Hamburg

While some individuals are studiously practising Johann Sebastian Bach, others are trying out the virtuoso contortions of break-dance on the street. Who possesses what kind of freedom and what role does environment, education and social affiliation play in the development of these individuals? Young artists from the fields of classical music and hip-hop culture overcome the barriers separating the two fields and come together to address questions relating to their identity. Rap and classical instrumental music are interwoven in the diversity of careers already commenced.
The Ensemble Resonanz brings young musicians together in a chamber orchestra which is well-known throughout the whole of Europe. The HipHop Academy Hamburg is the only project of its kind in the whole of Germany and provides support for the encouragement of talented and potentially gifted young artists within fields such as break-dance, graffiti, DJing and rap.
