Marino Formenti has become a pianistic shooting star by virtue of his unorthodox concert formats and is currently being compared by journalists with Glenn Gould. The fractured artistic personality of Franz Liszt is interpreted by Formenti in a Herrenhausen marathon consisting of two concerts:
KLOING! will lead up to the firework display which will illuminate the Great Garden [Großer Garten] and is dedicated to the pyrotechnician Liszt with his finger-breaking, extravagant music. “Kloing!” is also the title of the final piano work in the programme: Olga Neuwirth’s large-scale tragic-comical composition in which a pianist is defeated by the self-will of a piano manipulated by a computer.
SCHLAFLOS! is devoted to Liszt’s nocturnal, visionary aspect. Previously unchartered areas of tonal experience are explored between waking and sleeping in a comfortable lounge atmosphere.

Members of the audience attending “KLOING!“ and “SCHLAFLOS!” have free entry to the firework display. A single ticket for “SCHLAFLOS!” is available for 8,50 Euro at the box office.
